Sales Associate Qualifications for Licensure
In
addition to the general licensing provisions (See "Licensing"),
a number of additional criteria must be met before a sales associate
candidate may be licensed. The first step toward licensure is
to successfully complete FREC Course I or an equivalent FREC-approved
course. The course is based on understanding and applying the
fundamentals of real estate principles and practices, real estate
law, and real estate mathematics.
FREC
Course I consists of 60 classroom hours of instruction and 3
hours for an end-of-course examination. The end-of-course examination
consists of 100 questions worth 1 point each and is normally
organized with 45 questions on principles and practices, 45
questions on real estate law, and 10 math questions.
The
sales associate applicant must:
be 18 years of age or older.
have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
be honest, truthful, and trustworthy; be of good character;
and have a reputation for fair dealing.
disclose if ever convicted or found guilty of a crime
or ever entered a plea of nolo contendre (no contest), if under
investigation, civil or criminal prosecution, or if any judgement
or decree has been rendered wherein the charges involves moral
turpitude or fraudulent or dishonest dealing.
disclose if ever declared mentally incompetent, if now
an inmate of a mental institution or similar treatment center,
or if under home confinement instead of institutional confinement.
disclose if any name or alias other than the name signed
on the application has ever been used.
disclose if he or shee has ever been denied licensure
or had a license suspended or revoked by the real estate licensing
agency of another state or nation. *
disclose if he or she has ever been denied registration
or a license to practice any regulated profession, business,
or vocation or has had his or registration or license suspended
or revoked in this or any other state or nation.
disclose if he or she has been guilty of any conduct
or practice that would have been grounds for suspension or revocation
under F.S. 475 had the applicant then been licensed to practice
real estate in this state or elsewhere. This includes acting,
or attempting to act as a real estate salesperson or broker
in violation of F.S. 475 during the year before the applicant
filed an application, or until a valid license was issued regardless
of whether compensation was an issue. *

Note: Applicants guilty of these offenses will be considered
qualified for registration only if the passage of time, good
behavior, or other sufficient reasons cause the Commission to
believe that the interests and welfare of the general public
will not be endangered.
