The sales associate course consists of a 63-hour program of Real Estate principles, practices, law and real estate mathematics. Successful completion of the FREC-1 course of study fulfills the state requirements for each student and enables the student to apply for the state exam. The student is supplied with the Florida Real Estate Principles, Practices and Law information. The course gives the student exam-taking strategies, sample questions, math review and practice exams with answer rationales. The content conforms to the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) Course I Syllabus for the pre-license course for sales associates.

FAQs

Q. How long is the course good for?  

  • The online course is active with ReCampus up to one year from the date of purchase or until you pass the final end-of-course exam.  If you need an extension for your course please call The Palm Beach School of Real Estate for more information.

Q. Are there any recommended materials for the course? 

  • The online course will not have a textbook for you to follow – everything is on line, however if you wish to purchase support materials check out our bookstore. The text used (Dearborn Publishers): Florida Real Estate Principles, Practices, and Law.

Q. May I download the course and work without being connected to the internet? 

  • No – you cannot download the material from the internet.

Q. What is the difference between the classroom material and the online course? 

  • The course materials are organized differently. Also the method of delivery is different, however the material is consist by the Florida Real Estate Commission standards and requirements.

Q. Is there a final exam for the course? 

  • Yes – State of Florida requires you to pass a final exam at the end of the course.  The exam only consists of multiple choice questions. Once you have started the final exam you must complete it in one sitting!  You cannot close out of it and return to it, or use the back button to go back.   If you are having problems or lose your connection please call Tech Support Hotline for help 1.888.213.5124.

Q. What happens if I do not pass the first time?  

  • If you do not pass the first time, you will be given a link to a second final exam, which may not be taken until thirty (30) days have passed.  For review purposes, your course will remain active and you may revisit it as many times as you wish during the thirty days.  After the thirty days has passed, you may then click on the link to access the second final exam.  Once this has been done, the original course is deactivated and cannot be accessed.  BE SURE you are ready to take the exam before clicking on the second Final Exam link, because it is the only alternate exam! You have up to one (1) year to retake the exam.

Q. Do I have to pay again? 

  • Only if you fail the second final exam.  This is true with both online and classroom education.

Q. How do I check my progress in the course? 

  • When you log into the course, click profile then online course history.  Click on the course and it will take you to your lesson result page.

Q. May I receive a refund if the online course is not right for me? 

  • The Palm Beach School of Real Estate refund policy: No refund for students that went beyond the course tutorials and the first lesson.  The refund then is valid for thirty (30) days after the original purchase date.  Please call The Palm Beach School of Real Estate at 561.776.9755.  Depending of type of payment, if you qualify and request a refund, your refund will be issued thirty (30) days from the date of the request.

Q.  If I don’t like the online course may I still take the classroom course? 

  • Please email us at professor@PBSRE.com or call the school at 561.776.9755 for more information.

Q. How long after taking the class exam will I be notified? 

  • Immediately – you will know if you have passed the course.  Once you receive your notice, The Palm Beach School of Real Estate will mail, email, or fax you a completion slip for you to keep.  You will need to take the completion slip with you when you set up your state exam.

Q. How do I submit my application?  

  • We recommend that you submit your application to the State of Florida at least six (6) weeks prior to when you wish to take the State exam.  To submit your application online click here:

Q. What are the fees for the license, fingerprinting and state exam?  

  • The application fee to the Department of Business and Professional Regulations: $105.00
  • Electronic fingerprinting at the Promissor site: $61.00 (please note, if you are out of state see the information about out-of-state processing for fingerprints)

You should request that a Division of Real Estate fingerprint card (FD258) be mailed to you.  A fingerprint card may be obtained from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation by contacting our Customer Contact Center at 850.487.1395.  Once the fingerprint card is received, you may then go to a local law enforcement office in your area to have your fingerprints rolled onto the card.  In the “Reason Fingerprinted” section of the fingerprint card please make sure that “Florida Real Estate License F.S. 475.175” is entered, and in the “ORI” section of the card please ensure that "FL 920010Z FL Real Estate Comm Orlando, FL” is entered.  All other information will be completed at the local law enforcement agency.

where the fingerprint card will be scanned.  You will need to enclose a money order (personal checks are not accepted) in the amount of $61.00, payable to Promissor, with your card. Your fingerprints will then be sent electronically to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Q. How is the test administered?  

  • There are many locations in major metropolitan areas.  Exams will be given by the testing vendor Promissor on computers.  They consist of multiple choice questions.  You can make an appointment with the closest testing center near you (Click here to find test center and set an appointment) and request a “Florida Sales Associate State Exam”.  You do not necessarily need to come to Florida to take the state exam.

Q. How long after taking the State exam will I be notified of passing?  

  • You will receive your grades immediately at the testing center.  You must pass with a 75 or better grade.  If you do not pass, a grade sheet will be given to you showing what categories you are weak in.

Q. Do you have a money back guarantee if I should fail the course? 

  • No - According to the Florida Statutes 475.451 & 475.4511 and the rules in Chapter 61-J2.013 we are not allowed to guarantee any student a refund.

Q. What happens if I become disconnected while taking the final exam on line?  

  • When taking any online course, The Palm Beach School of Real Estate recommends that you do not use a wireless connection when taking the “Final Exam”.  If you do lose your connection, as soon as possible call Tech Support at 1.888.213.5124 for assistance.  Tech Support hours are: Monday-Friday, 10:00 am -11pm EST, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am – 9:00 pm EST.

Q. What is the license renewal period?  

  • After completing and passing the state exam, 45 hours of post licensing education is required during the first renewal period.  The renewal period can be 18-24 months after passing the exam.  Renewal periods are: March 31 and September 30, and your license must be renewed every two years.  So, after the first renewal a 14 hour continuing education course must be completed every two (2) years.

Q. I have an out-of state real estate license.  Do I have to take the course?

  • Florida resident defined. For application purposes, FREC rules define a resident of Florida as a person who has resided in Florida continuously for a period of four calendar months or more within the preceding year, regardless of whether the residence was a recreational vehicle, hotel, rental unit, or other temporary or permanent location. Any person who presently resides in Florida in any of the above-described accommodations with the intention of residing continuously in Florida for four months or longer, beginning on the date the person established the current period of residence, is also a legal Florida resident.

Q. What can I do with a sales associate’s license? 

  • You will be able to be involved with all real estate activities, which include the listing and selling of residential, commercial, industrial property, land, business opportunities, and time-shares.  You may also work with lease and manage real property.
